Beyond Tool Adoption: A Practical Five-Stage Developmental Continuum for AI Literacy in Higher Education
arXiv:2606.00038v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: We propose a five-stage AI Literacy Continuum for higher education consisting of Not Yet Engaged, Uncritical Use, Informed Use, Critical Evaluation, and Improvement. The continuum addresses a gap in existing AI literacy frameworks, which define competencies but provide limited guidance for diagnosing learner starting points and developmental progression. Drawing on design-based implementation across credit-bearing courses and intensive...
Continuum-marginal optimal transport: a mesh-free kernel method
arXiv:2604.24226v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: In this paper we study continuum-marginal optimal transport. Given a time-continuous family of probability marginals, the problem is to recover the minimum-energy velocity field whose flow reproduces every marginal. This problem is the continuum limit of the classical two-marginal Benamou--Brenier formulation, and also the deterministic limit of the Nelson problem of stochastic optimal transport.
Exact Boundary Enforcement Along Implicit Geometries for Physics-Informed, Deep Learning Problems in Continuum Mechanics
arXiv:2606.07579v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Solutions to well-posed problems in continuum mechanics are continuously dependent upon prescribed boundary conditions. Because of this, variations in the enforcement of boundary data can impact the reliability of inversion techniques that rely on efficient and accurate forward models. To this end, it is necessary to understand how specific boundary implementation techniques can affect the performance of a given forward model.
Probabilistic dietary exposure modeling and health risk assessment of heavy metals via the fodder-cattle-human continuum in Bangladesh
Dietary exposure to heavy metals (HMs) via animal-source foods is a critical environmental health pathway. In rapidly industrializing Bangladesh, contamination of the bovine food chain from agricultural feeds and industrial emissions poses an unquantified public health burden. This study evaluated exposure pathways, spatial distribution, mass-transfer dynamics, and health risks of six HMs (Cr, Cu, Cd, Pb, As, and Hg) across the fodder-cattle-human continuum.
Rewritable Chirality of Metasurfaces with Permittivity-Asymmetric Flatband Quasi-Bound States in the Continuum
new Abstract: Flatband eigenstates are widely applied to enhance angle-robust light-matter interactions in metaphotonics. However, controlling the polarization of flatbands remains challenging, as it is usually fixed once the metasurface is fabricated, with no options of post-fabrication modification. Here, we present a rewritable permittivity-asymmetric quasi-bound state in the continuum ({\epsilon}-qBIC) metasurface platform, where selective polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) coating of a...
Continuum Robot State Estimation with Actuation Uncertainty
arXiv:2601.04493v3 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Continuum robots are flexible, slender manipulators well suited for confined surgical environments. In these settings, unknown interaction forces and model uncertainty significantly affect robot shape, motivating state estimation from external observations. Existing estimation methods either neglect actuation modeling or rely on simplified deterministic actuation models.
Zero Touch Predictive Orchestration: Automating Time-Series Models for the Cloud-Edge Continuum
new Abstract: The Cloud-Edge Continuum (CEC) enables latency-critical applications by distributing resources to the far edge, but its extreme volatility makes proactive Zero Touch Management via time-series forecasting essential. However, orchestrators face a severe "cold start" problem: newly discovered nodes lack the historical data required to train localized predictive models, while generalized models fail to capture unique hardware and microservice behaviors. To solve this, we propose a...
Beyond Tool Adoption: A Practical Five-Stage Developmental Continuum for AI Literacy in Higher Education
Announce Type: replace Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) literacy is increasingly recognized as a foundational competency for all university graduates. Yet students' engagement with AI tools often clusters at two extremes: avoidance driven by fear, mistrust, ethical concern, or lack of access, and uncritical reliance that produces fluent output while masking misunderstanding. Existing AI literacy frameworks provide valuable competency definitions, but most offer limited guidance for...

Orbital Angular Momentum Locking via Bound States in the Continuum
Announce Type: new Abstract: Optical vortices are electromagnetic fields twisting around a phase singularity, resulting in quantized orbital angular momentum (OAM). When such vortices are formed by evanescent hybrid light-matter quasiparticles known as polaritons, they are referred to as polaritonic vortices (PVs). The nanometer-scale topologically robust features of such PVs promise to enable applications for lasing and thermal emission at deeply subwavelength scales.
