The Preisach Extremum Stack is a Shannon-Minimal Sufficient Statistic for Rate-Independent Functionals

Announce Type: new Abstract: Let R denote the class of all computable, causal functionals that are rate-independent in the classical sense (invariant under monotone time reparametrizations), and let Pi_n be the Preisach extremum stack of an input sequence u_{0:n}. We prove a characterization theorem establishing that every F in R satisfies Fu = f(Pi_n) for a computable f, and derive two information-theoretic results. First, under any probability measure on u_{0:n}, the equality I(u_{0:n};...

One-Shot Klein Cutting Planes for Lipschitz Geodesically Convex Optimization in Hyperbolic Space

arXiv:2605.17540v4 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Motivated by the COLT 2023 open problem of Criscitiello, Mart\'inez-Rubio, and Boumal on deterministic first-order methods for Lipschitz geodesically convex optimization on Hadamard manifolds, we study hyperbolic space \[ \HH^d_{-\kappaC^2} =\{X\in\R^{d+1}:\ipL{X}{X}=-1,\ X_0>0\}, \qquad \ip{U}{V}_X=\kappaC^{-2}\ipL{U}{V}. For every geodesically convex $M$-Lipschitz function \[ f:\bar B_{\HH}(x_0,r)\to\R,\qquad s=\kappaC r, \] we give a...

Reversible double cyclic codes over a chain ring

arXiv:2606.06367v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: In this paper, we study the structure of double cyclic codes of length $(\gamma,\delta)$ over $\mathbb F_q+u\mathbb F_q, u^2=0$. We also study the dual of double cyclic code of length $(\gamma,\delta)$ and give a minimal spanning set of double cyclic codes. Moreover, we study the necessary and sufficient conditions for a double cyclic code to be reversible and reversible-complement double cyclic code and with the help of these codes, we...

Constraint residuals, graph posteriors, and determinant-corrected full-space targets in Bayesian inverse problems

Announce Type: cross Abstract: Bayesian inverse problems constrained by state equations are often sampled in a full parameter-state space by penalising the residual, rather than in a reduced space where the state is eliminated. We show that these formulations are not automatically equivalent as posterior measures. For finite-dimensional discretisations of equality-constrained inverse problems, assume the state equation \(c(\theta,u)=0\) has a unique solution \(u=G(\theta)\) and nonsingular...

Worker Utility as Hysteresis: A Preisach Model of Transaction Acceptance in Gig Labour Markets

arXiv:2606.04916v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Worker utility is not observed -- only its consequence is. Each gig transaction produces a single bit: accepted or rejected.

WWDC 2026 bonus live blog: Tech Talk with Craig Federighi

One of the funnier parts of the keynote. Fresh off the WWDC keynote presentation, The Verge has been invited to an "on-the-record technical deep dive into the bold new architecture enabling Apple Intelligence capabilities." Apple SVP of Software Engineering Craig Federighi and his team will be there, and so will we.

Baroclinic wave dynamics in the Ekman-free rotating rectangular annulus with localized forced plume

arXiv:2606.10386v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We report numerical simulations of a rotating rectangular annulus that isolates the Ekman-free bulk of the cylindrical baroclinic annulus, subjected to bi-directional temperature gradients imposed by a uniformly cooled inner wall and a localized forced heated plume at the outer bottom. The finite-volume OpenFOAM solver is employed across combinations of source Richardson number $Ri_0 = 99, 4, 1$ and Rossby number $Ro = 0.3, 0.1, 0.07$. A...

A 5.3-million-year-old deep-sea whale necropolis in the Diamantina Zone

Abstract Whale falls are biodiversity oases at seabeds1,2,3,4,5,6, yet their record from the oceans has remained sparse and fragmentary6,7. Here we report the discovery of a vast whale necropolis in the Diamantina Zone (4,616- to 7,001-m depth), extending about 1,200 km along the sea floor of the southeastern Indian Ocean. This area has a deep and extensive accumulation comprising five modern natural whale-fall communities and 476 fossil cetaceans recorded.

Deconstructing Superintelligence: Identity, Self-Modification and Diff\'erance

Announce Type: replace Abstract: Self-modification is routinely treated as constitutive of artificial superintelligence (\textbf{SI}), yet modification is a relative action requiring a \emph{supplement} outside the operation. We formalise this on an associative operator algebra $\mathcal{A}$ with update operator $\hat U$, difference operator $\hat D$, and self-representation operator $\hat R$, identifying the supplement with $\operatorname{Comm}(\hat U)$. A propagation theorem shows $[\hat...

The Privacy Subsidy in Continuous-Time Kyle: Cumulative Welfare under Noise-Perturbed Order-Flow Observation

Announce Type: replace Abstract: We extend the closed-form privacy-subsidy result of Nakamura~(2026, arXiv:2605.15746) from the single-period Kyle model to continuous-time. A committed Bayesian automated market maker observes the aggregate order flow perturbed by an independent Brownian privacy channel of diffusion intensity $\sigma_\varepsilon$. Under the Markovian linear equilibrium, the price-impact coefficient is $\lambda = \sigma_v / \sqrt{\sigma_u^2 + \sigma_\varepsilon^2}$ -- constant...
