A Barrier-Modulated Architecture for Safe Affine Formation Control in Second-Order Multi-Agent Systems

arXiv:2606.08137v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Affine formation control offers immense flexibility for coordinating multi-agent maneuvers, but guaranteeing the safety of agents under parametric uncertainties remains an open challenge. This paper proposes a novel safe affine formation control framework for second-order multi-agent systems by integrating Higher-Order Control Barrier Functions (HOCBFs) with Adaptive Dynamic Programming (ADP). We introduce a barrier-modulated control...

Uncovering Extreme Event Mechanisms for Prediction and Control with Sensitivity-Balanced Projections

arXiv:2606.05618v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Extreme events -- such as earthquakes and coronal mass ejections -- are common in many chaotic dynamical systems, yet are difficult to characterize and predict due to the subtle instability mechanisms that drive them. In this work, we develop an interpretable technique that reveals the underlying mechanisms behind extreme events and uses them to build data-driven forecasts and intuitive event suppression controllers. In particular, we utilize...

A simple model for conserved intracellular dynamics exhibits multiscale pattern formation, traveling protein domains and arrested coarsening of lipid domains

Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: We model the spatiotemporal dynamics of cellular protein concentrations relevant to cell polarity near membranes composed of different lipids. Therefore, we consider a three-variable continuum model for membrane-bound protein, cytosolic protein, and the local composition of a binary lipid membrane. The model contains two globally conserved quantities: the total protein content and the average fractions of the two lipid species.
