A man has allegedly assaulted four police officers and woman known to him in Port Augusta earlier today.
SA Police said two officers were called to a home about 9:30am to address a "domestic disturbance" but when officers arrived and attempted to arrest the man, he assaulted them.
"When police arrived, they attempted to arrest a man who immediately fought with police," the statement said.
"Both officers were assaulted by the man before they could call for urgent assistance."
Further patrols responded to restrain and arrest the man, with two officers allegedly bitten by the man in the process.
Police also alleged the man had also assaulted a woman known to him. She was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
A search of the home officers found a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and a machete.
The 34-year-old man from Port Augusta West was arrested and police said he would be charged on Tuesday afternoon.
