Man arrested after allegedly assaulting four cops, biting two, during arrest

Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a woman known to him and four officers, inflicting minor injuries. Police allege they also found a sawn-off shotgun and a machete at the home. What's next? The man is expected to be charged on Tuesday afternoon. A man has allegedly assaulted four police officers and woman known to him in Port Augusta earlier today. SA Police said two officers were called to a home about 9:30am to address a "domestic disturbance" but when officers arrived and attempted to arrest the man, he assaulted them. "When police arrived, they attempted to arrest a man who immediately fought with police," the statement said. "Both officers were assaulted by the man before they could call for urgent assistance." Further patrols responded to restrain and arrest the man, with two officers allegedly bitten by the man in the process. Police also alleged the man had also assaulted a woman known to him. She was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A search of the home officers found a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and a machete.
