Turkish state broadcaster TRT has suspended one of their commentators after he confused Iran and New Zealand during their World Cup match.
For the first four minutes of the game in Los Angeles, Murat Ekrem Cimen spoke as if the team wearing white was New Zealand and the black were Iran, but it was in fact the other way around.
It was only when the cameras panned for Iran's Mehdi Taremi from behind, with his name clear on the back of his shirt, which prompted the commentator to correct himself. The four-minute footage went viral.
Cimen has since released a statement apologising, but his employers put out a statement whereby they confirmed a commentator had been stood down until after the World Cup.
South Korea have refused to take part in their latest media obligations after reporters from the country allegedly mocked Son Heung-min's military service.
Reports suggest that reporters were heard on a hot mic mocking Son's military service as he trained away from the group.
Service is compulsory in South Korea, but exceptions can be made for athletes who win titles, with Son and his teammates earning that with a gold at the 2018 Asian Games.
In a statement, the KFA said:
“The Korea Football Association expresses regret over the inappropriate remarks made by some media personnel during the national football team’s training at the Guadalajara base camp,” the KFA said in a statement.“With a sense of responsibility to represent South Korea on the global stage of the World Cup, the Taegeuk Warriors are doing their best to repay the support and expectations of the people.“However, the recent leak of inappropriate conversations between some media officials at a training site caused great shock and disappointment to the team.“

As expected, Kylian Mbappe is starting for Les Bleus alongside Desire Doue, Michael Olise and Ousmane Dembele.
Arsenal's William Saliba is at the heart of the defence.

England winger Bukayo Saka says that he doesn't really 'mind' the addition of the controversial hydration breaks in every game in this year's World Cup.
Previously, the breaks in each half of the match were decided on a match-by-match basis depending on the heat. But, the decision has been taken for every match to include a three-minute water break in each half.
It has been criticised by pundits and fans, with it being deemed to stop the momentum of teams.
But Saka is quite relaxed about the situation.
"I think it depends, if you're dominating and you have all the momentum, you would love to keep going," he said in a press conference. "I guess in some cases it will be helpful, you know, when we're playing in extreme heat. "But I'm easy, I'm open. I don't really mind."
It's a little over 24 hours until England get their World Cup campaign underway with the aim of ending 60 years of hurt.
Thomas Tuchel's men take on Croatia in Dallas at 9pm (BST) tomorrow (Wednesday) night, and fans are starting to arrive.
BBC Sport reports that between 12,000 and 15,000 England fans are expected to be in attendance at each group stage game. The official England Supporters Travel Club have sold the 4,022 allocation.
MirrorFootball have caught some of the fans who have arrived, ready for the match.
England are 'in talks' over playing a final behind-closed-doors friendly during the World Cup group stage games.
BBC Sport report that talks are being held with MLS side Sporting Kansas City, with any fixture likely to be played between the clashes against Croatia on Wednesday and Ghana next Tuesday.
If the game goes ahead then it's reported that players who do not play a significant amount of time against Croatia will be selected to help build and maintain match fitness.
It takes a brave person indeed to write off Lionel Messi.
So take a bow Mario Kempes.
Messi will be looking to add more history to his astonishing career by leading Argentina to back-to-back World Cup titles in North America.
Just one nation has ever managed this feat before. Brazil in 1958 and 1962.
And with Messi about to turn 39 during the tournament, he knows this will be his last chance to add another layer to his remarkable legacy.
But fellow Argentine Kempes believes even Messi might struggle to defend his own title.
Kempes won the World Cup in 1978, but was part of an Argentina side which failed to reach the knockout stages in Spain four years later.
He said: "I experienced this first hand. At the 1982 World Cup we soon realised that it is by no mans an easy feat."Teams are getting to know you better now. They know how you play. They have to change, because Argentina is a national team that everyone wants to beat."
Senegal fans are ready for their World Cup opener against France later tonight.
The African side take on one of the tournament favourites at the New York New Jersey Stadium in the 8pm (BST) kick-off.
Fans are certainly making their voices heard. in brilliant scenes in Times Square, New York.
Roberto Martinez will leave his role as Portugal manager, no matter how the World Cup goes for his team, according to TalkSPORT.
The former Swansea, Wigan, Everton and Belgium boss will lead the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes in the tournament, with their first game taking place vs DR Congo on Wednesday evening.
It's reported that he has already decided not to renew his Portugal contract, which expires after the tournament.
Tino Livramento was picked in the England squad due to his versatility. The Newcastle full-back is able to play on the left or right side of defence.
But injury means that he has now been replaced in the squad by Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
FIFA rules allow an injured player to be replaced in the squad up to 24 hours before a nation's first game.
It, however, leaves Thomas Tuchel with just first-choice right-back Reece James. Although Djed Spence, Ezri Konsa and Chalobah are able to fill in the position.
A friend of Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has revealed that he had to be convinced by teammates not to retire ahead of the World Cup.
The 40-year-old was a hero for his nation as he put in a man-of-the-match performance to keep a clean sheet againt European champions and one of the favourites for the tournament, Spain.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5Live Vozinha's friend Joao Carlos Silva said...
"He was about to quit the national team, I think a couple of years ago, from what I heard. Then obviously, his teammates convinced him to come back, to stay, and obviously , it's a brilliant result. "He's announced his retirement just before the World Cup, he said after the World Cup, it's enough for him."
The introduction of hydration breaks to every World Cup game this year has been a big talking point of the tournament so far, and FIFA have now been told to take action.
The soaring heat in some venues have made the breaks necessary for some teams, for the welfare of the players. But even when the heat is not bad, the one break in each half is still being used.
Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Ian Wright have spoken out against the breaks, with claims that they are being 'blatnatly' misused.
Former England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that Three Lions' boss Thomas Tuchel is picking squad harmony over talent after Trent Alexander-Arnold was snubbed again.
England have been forced to make a late change to their squad with Trevoh Chalobah replacing the injured Tino Livramento.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said...
"We know Thomas Tuchel's stance now regarding Trent, when you look at some of the players in the squad it almost looks like he's picking centre-backs who can do a job at right-back, rather than an out-and-out right-back."We know there's the special qualities that Trent Alexander-Arnold has, that's the reason Real Madrid have him, that's the reason Liverpool supporters were so upset to lose him. But the qualities Trent has, and maybe the deficiencies as well, that's the reason Thomas Tuchel has not picked him, he's maybe the negatives rather than the positives with Trent and the way he wants to set his team up means that the strengths don't get amplified."I wouldn't say I'm overly surprised that he hasn't gone for Trent, I said a few weeks ago that he's picking team harmony, togetherness, spirit, I think probably over quality and talent and I think this is another decision that proves that."
Saka was asked today whether he is ready to play for the whole of England's upcoming opener in Dallas, Saka has said he is "ready to go", and feeling better than he has "over the last few months".
He said today: "I don't want to say anything that goes against the manager. What I would say is that between Mikel [Arteta] and the Arsenal medical team and Thomas [Tuchel] and the England medical team, since March they have managed me amazingly and helped me get back on the pitch and do what I can for the team.
"I'm feeling better than I have felt in the last few months and I'm ready to go."
Stuart Pearce has commented on the choice to bring Chalobah into the fold, telling talkSPORT he is a "player he knows well" and one who fits into the manager's "team ethic".
He said: "He's gone with Chalobah, a player he knows well from his training days, someone that he thinks fits in to this team ethic he thinks he's drawn with this squad.
"I don't think it's a like-for-like, Chalobah can play right back or left back, I'm sure, but not a natural in that position. An interesting one, but I don't think he could have done nothing. Chalobah, fantastic opportunity for him, but Livramento, a real blow for him."
The world's greatest footballer was celebrating winning arguably the greatest match of all time when I met a man called Keegan.
He was an Argentina fan whose mum fancied Kevin Keegan when he was a child and decided to name him after her heartthrob. At Qatar 2022, tens of thousands of his countrymen and women went wild as they watched Lionel Messi raise the trophy aloft.
It confirmed Messi's place in history as one of the greatest players of all time, if not the greatest.
After all the controversy surrounding the Gulf state hosting the tournament, football delivered an exhilarating final. It was a privilege to be there, as it has been for so many of the tournaments over the past 30 years.
FA chief Mark Bullingham insists they did not "move the goalposts" by giving Thomas Tuchel a new contract.
Tuchel was hired on a win-or-bust basis for this World Cup but the Football Association then rewarded the German with a new contract until 2028.
But Bullingham says they still firmly believe that Tuchel has all the qualities to win the World Cup this summer and there are performance clauses written into the new deal.
The FA chief executive said: "I think the energy and charisma he brings is amazing. In his own environment he’s incredibly dynamic and energetic but he absolutely owns the room and owns the camp and he’s brilliant at connecting with everyone.
"That's what he brings. He's incredibly dynamic. He is so focused on this tournament but we also have the 2028 agreement in place. I don't think we have moved the goalposts because we're we appointed him to try and do as well as we can in this tournament, and we've appointed him for that tournament to see how well we can do for that tournament.
"You never really want that hanging over you when you go into a tournament because obviously anyone in any walk of life that's on a fixed-term contract when they get to the end of it starts thinking about their future."

Trevoh Chalobah has been called into England’s 26-player squad at FIFA World Cup 2026 after injury sadly forced the withdrawal of Tino Livramento.

World Cup winner Paul Pogba has backed Manchester United to become Premier League champions again.
The English giants have not won the title since 2013 - in Sir Alex Ferguson's last season before retiring. Since then United have seen neighbours Manchester City and bitter rivals Liverpool go on to dominate the English game.
But Pogba believes his former club are destined to be champions again under new boss Michael Carrick. Carrick took charge on an interim basis following the sacking of Ruben Amorim. And he got the job full-time, having led United to Champions League qualification.
Pogba, who played alongside Carrick at United, said: "He's really close to the players, he knows the game and I think he can really bring something to this team.
"When he came here the team changed totally and it’s going to be a big test for them next season. I think Manchester United will win in the next few years. They're gonna be champions of the Premier League.
"If Arsenal can be champions, Manchester United will definitely be champions. It's a big statement, but I believe they will. I'd probably say the next three years, next three years in my opinion. Yeah I think they can make it the next three years."
Thomas Tuchel can pick a replacement from the players included in the initial provisional squad. That list includes:
- Harry Maguire (Manchester United)
- Levi Colwill (Chelsea)
- Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan)
- Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea)
- Trent Alexander-Arnold (Real Madrid)
- Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal)
- Luke Shaw (Manchester United)
- Lewis Hall (Newcastle United)
Trevor Chalobah and Thomas Tuchel are no strangers, with the Englishman playing under the German coach while at Chelsea.
Tuchel was leading the Blues when Chalobah started his first season with the senior team in 2021, months after Tuchel joined Chelsea in January 2021.
The defender then made his Premier League debut under Tuchel during a match against Crystal Palace, in August 2021. He became Chelsea's second youngest player to score on a Premier League debut in that match.
Chalobah made three apperances in the team's iconic Champion's League run that season, which ended with the London squad lifitng the UEFA for the second time.
After being behind the defender's league debut, Tuchel could now also give Chalobah his World Cup start.
Chelsea's Trevor Chalobah could on his way to securing his place on England's World Cup squad for the first time in his career following an injury.
Tino Livramento has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a calf injury, ahead of England's first match against Croatia.
Sky News has reported Chalobah, 26, is already on his way to join Thomas Tuchel's squad to replace Livramento. The Chelsea defender was reportedly already in the United States on holiday.
Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah has been highly tipped to replace Newcastle's Tino Livramento following his injury.
The 26-year-old Chelsea star could be called up to the World Cup stage, after earning just one call up for his country so far during his career - that appearance coming in a disastrous 3-1 friendly defeat to Senegal a year ago.
Chalobah shared his World Cup dreams in a X post back in 2018, with the comment "One day" and "#Believe".
