An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after he was stabbed in the back in Blackburn. Another 11-year-old has been arrested.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to reports of a stabbing in the Fishmoor Drive area of Blackburn, Lancashire, just before 7pm on Monday. The victim was taken to hospital with a "puncture wound to his back", LancsLive reports.
The suspect, also aged 11, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has since been bailed while further enquiries are carried out. Police said the victim's injury is not as serious as first thought and was not life-threatening.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: "We were called at shortly before 7pm yesterday (Monday, June 22nd) following a report of a stabbing in the Fishmoor Drive area of Blackburn. Officers attended and the victim, a boy aged 11, was taken to hospital suffering a from a single puncture wound to the back.
"Thankfully, his injury is not as serious as first thought and is not life threatening. A second 11-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
