Venezuela airport chaos as huge earthquake sparks building collapse Footage circulating on social media show people panicking at an airport near Venezuela's capital following back-to-back earthquakes Back-to-back powerful earthquakes hammered Venezuela on Wednesday (June 24), collapsing buildings in the capital of Caracas and triggering panic at a nearby airport. The US Geological Survey said the first earthquake had a magnitude of 7.1 and its epicentre was west of the community of Morón, located along the country’s Caribbean coast, about 104 miles west of Caracas. The quake came in at a depth of eight miles. Then, minutes later, the USGS reported an even larger 7.5-magnitude earthquake had also struck, with a depth of six miles with the epicentre 10 miles southwest of Morón. Footage circulating on social media show people panicking at an airport near the Venezuelan capital following back-to-back earthquakes. Following the quake, a tsunami advisory was issued, with the potential for hazardous tsunami waves possible for coasts within 300 kilometers of the earthquake epicenter. More to come.
