A man is fighting for his life in hospital after an early-morning car fire at Scoresby, in Melbourne's east.
Emergency services were called to a vehicle that was alight near parkland on Benedikt Court in Scoresby just before 1am.
A man was found with life-threatening burns.
It is not yet clear if the man was inside or out of the car when the fire started.
He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated but police have set up a crime scene and have been doorknocking people who live on the street.
An arson chemist will examine the scene today.
Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact police or Crime Stoppers at www.crimestoppers.com.au.
