Popular children's drink urgently recalled as shoppers warned 'do not consume'
Specific batches of the drink have been recalled and could pose a health risk if they're consumed. Here's everything you need to know.
A popular drink has been urgently recalled, with shoppers urged not to drink it and instead return it for a full refund. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) sounded the alarm about certain batches of the drink, which is very popular with children.
Anyone who has bought the affected batches has been urged to check them carefully. Capri Sun UK Limited is recalling specific batches of Capri-Sun Orange, because some multipacks contain pouches incorrectly labelled as Capri-Sun Orange Zero.
These pouches contain regular Capri-Sun Orange with the normal sugar level for that product, as correctly stated on the multipack - not Capri Sun Zero.
This makes the product a potential risk to consumers who need to manage their sugar intake.
Capri Sun recall
The details for this product recall, which is Northern Ireland specific, are as follows:
Pack size: 10 x 200ml
Batch code: L104 L105 L106
Best before: April 1, 2027
The reason for the recall is that it could pose a risk to anyone who needs to watch their sugar intake, such as diabetics. No other Capri-Sun products have been affected by this issue.
What customers should do
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product, which explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.
If you've checked the batch code and best before dates and they match, and you're dependent on sugar content, don't drink any of them.
Instead, you should return the product to the retailer, where you'll be able to get a full refund. No receipt is needed.
M&S Food's Truffle Gouda recall
Another food recall which has been issued in Northern Ireland this week is M&S Food's Truffle Gouda, due to the presence of Listeria monocytogene.
Any customers who have bought the 150g pack of cheese with the product code 29424887 and a use by date of October 9, 2026, have been urged not to eat it and return it to the store for a refund.
Symptoms caused by Listeria monocytogenes can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.
