What ETimes said about the film
ETimes, in its review of Jana Nayagan, wrote, "Jana Nayagan, Vijay's final film, was designed as a big-budget campaign vehicle for its star's political ambitions, and while its certification troubles might have led to it being released after the elections (with Vijay not really needing its release to win the elections), it offers ample proof of the power of his stardom. It shows how a star can elevate the dullest of script and make it passable."
