Cybersecurity Meta AI Model Accessed Internet, Hacked Outside Firm in Testing Meta Platforms Inc. said one of its artificial intelligence models accessed the internet and hacked into an outside service’s systems during cybersecurity testing, following similar breaches by OpenAI and Anthropic PBC models that have escalated concerns about the companies’ control over their technology. Meta’s model breached the systems of a third-party service, the company said, without identifying the service. The AI model had access to the internet because of an error in the setup testing environment, which Meta was working on with the cybersecurity vendor Irregular.
