Police swarm busy street as murder arrest made after man stabbed to death in Sutton Coldfield A major police presence remains on Chester Road in Sutton Coldfield as officers investigate a fatal stabbing. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a fatal stabbing near a college in Sutton Coldfield. Emergency services were called to Chester Road, close to the Oscott and Kingstanding border, shortly after midnight on Saturday (August 8). The victim, a man in his 30s, had suffered stab injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, reports Birmingham Live. A large police presence remains in the area, with a cordon in place and a tent erected as officers continue to investigate and gather evidence. Crews were seen swarming Chester Road, opposite Oscott College and near a row of shops at New Oscott, where two cordons remain in place. West Midlands Police said in a statement: "A man is in custody today on suspicion of murder after a man died in Sutton Coldfield overnight. "We were called to Chester Road shortly after midnight after a man was stabbed. A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody while our enquiries continue. "We are currently not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and it is thought the suspect and victim were known to each other. "Officers are remaining at the scene today to investigate and gather evidence and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area last night and might know more about what happened.
