Police in Edinburgh received a report of a man having fallen from height at a building in St Andrew Square this morning - he was sadly pronounced dead shortly after
A man has sadly died after falling from the top of a building in the city centre of Edinburgh.
The incident took place at around 11.30am today. St Andrew Square was cordoned off and a large green tarpaulin was erected at the entrance to Harvey Nichols, which closed following the incident.
Officers could be seen around the cordon, speaking to members of the public, while two ambulances were parked up outside the department store, Edinburgh Live reports.
Police said they received a report of a man having fallen from height at a building in St Andrew Square. He was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.35am on Wednesday, 19 August, 2026, we were called to a report that a man had fallen from height at a building in the St Andrew Square area of Edinburgh.
“Emergency services attended however the man was pronounced dead a short time later. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Lothian Buses has also diverted two services from the area as emergency services remain at the scene. Both the CS1 and ET1 have been rerouted for the time being.
