Police were called to Luna Springs nightclub in Digbeth just before 11.20pm yesterday, Sunday, August 23, following reports of trouble. The disturbance spilled out onto the corner of Hack Street and Bromley Street, where a gun was fired and a 23-year-old man was shot in the leg, police said. He remained under arrest in hospital on suspicion of violent disorder and was due to be be questioned. A second man, 30, was held on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of a knife while a third man, 20, was held on suspicion of violent disorder. A cordon remained in place at the scene this afternoon. Detectives have also been in the area gathering evidence, reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses, reports Birmingham Live. West Midlands Police say there were lots of people at Luna Springs nightclub last night and have urged any witnesses, including those with recordings of the incident, to contact them as soon as possible. Det Insp Stacey Follows, from the Major Crime Unit, said: "We're in the very early stages of the investigation, but have made good progress already. "It's believed the disorder started inside the venue and then spilled out into the street, where the shooting happened. "There were a lot of people present at the venue last night, and I need anyone who saw what happened or who has recorded or been sent any mobile phone footage to get in touch as soon as possible so that we can identify and arrest everyone involved as soon as possible."
