Major update issued after woman found dead inside bin bag left in Liverpool park The body of a woman at the centre of a murder investigation in Liverpool was found in a black bin bag at Stanley Park which may have been there for weeks, police said A woman who was found dead at a park in Liverpool was discovered inside a black bin back and is believed to have been there for a number of weeks, police have said. Merseyside Police launched a murder investigation after a member of public found the woman at Stanley Park on Friday, August 28, at around 5:25pm. The force said the body, of a white woman in her 70s, was in the area of the walled garden. The woman was described as being 5ft2, with a small build and strawberry blonde hair. She was wearing a distinctive pink Nike T-shirt when she was found. Police say they are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about her. In a press conference on Monday afternoon, Assistant Chief Constable Andy Ryan said it quite possible a visitor the park may have seen or recorded something which they did not realise was significant at the time. He has asked the public to visit the mobile police station which has been set up in the crime. The woman has not been identified but a post-mortem has taken place, with the results withheld for investigative reasons. Police said missing people reports in Merseyside and elsewhere have been checked, but so far, these have not resulted in any identification. Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson from Merseyside Police's major incident team has asked members of the public to think if they have friends or family in the Anfield area who they have not heard from for some time, reports the Liverpool Echo. She said: "I want to take the opportunity to ask people to please consider whether you have any neighbors, family members, or friends who live in the area - someone you may not have seen or heard from in a few weeks. "Missing people reports in Merseyside and elsewhere have been checked, but so far, these have not resulted in any identification. "Sometimes, people do go missing without those close to them realising, through holidays that have been planned or simple misunderstandings. So we may not have received a report of any concerns."
