Woman found dead in pond at Lytham park as police investigate 'unexplained death' Police have launched an investigation after the body of a woman was found in a pond at Lowther Gardens in Lytham with the area cordoned off A woman has been found dead in a pond at a park in Lancashire with a police investigation underway. Officers attended Lowther Gardens in Lytham at around 9am this morning (September 7) following reports that a body had been discovered in the water. Police, firefighters and an air ambulance were called to the scene, where the woman was found dead. Police have not yet established her identity and are treating the death as unexplained while enquiries continue. A walking group which was due to enter the gardens at 10.30am was said to have been left shocked by the discovery. Staff were also reportedly still inside the Lowther Pavilion building while the surrounding gardens remained sealed off. The gardens remained cordoned off as the investigation continued. Many people have taken to social media to express their sadness over the incident. "My thoughts go out to her friends, family and whoever knew the person," wrote one person on Facebook and another said: "So sad R.I.P." The discovery prompted a major emergency services presence, with entrances to the gardens blocked by police vehicles and tape stretched across the gates.
