Police have found a body in the search for missing tourist Hector Patemore, 45, from Belgium, who failed to return from a mountain climb in the Scottish Highlands
A body has been found in the search for a tourist who vanished on a hike in the Scottish Highlands.
Police said formal identification has yet to take place, but that the family of Hector Patemore, 45, from Belgium, who had been reported missing from the area, were aware.
Mr Patemore, an experienced walker, failed to return to his accommodation after a planned climb of Sgurr Na Banachdich, coming down via Coire Na Banachdich in the Cuillin Mountains.
He was last seen at 10.45am on Sunday leaving the youth hostel in Glen Brittle in Torrin to begin his walk.
After failing to return or contact his family, Mr Patemore was reported missing at around 10.25pm.
Police Scotland said it received a report of a body found in the Cuillin area of Skye at around 2pm on Monday.
The death is not believed to be suspicious, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
Sergeant David Mockett previously said in an appeal: "Hector is an experienced hillwalker, and the route he planned to take is considered relatively straightforward.
"We are growing increasingly concerned for his wellbeing and are appealing for anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to please get in touch.
"We are particularly keen to speak with any fellow hillwalkers who were in the area on Sunday, 13 September, and may have seen Hector or know anything which could help pinpoint his location and route."
Anyone with information is being asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 3692 of September 13.
