The Met Office has forecast 'widely unsettled conditions' at the end of the month, with weather maps turning green showing cooler conditions. The chill is expected to arrive on the last day of the month, Wednesday, September 30, with areas in the North East and North West of England forecast to be the coldest. According to Netweather maps, using GFS models, at around 3am in the morning parts of Cumbria, Durham and North Yorkshire will all sit at a chilling 3C. In Scotland, the maps show even harsher conditions as 2C is forecast for several areas. The temperature is vastly different in the south, with lows of 9C forecast in the South East and London expected to be around 11C at this time. As the morning continues, some areas will feel a fall in temperature with much of the South East and Anglia expected to be around 7C at 6am. Cheshire is surprisingly one of the warmer areas in the UK at 10C according to the weather maps. Again, parts of Yorkshire and Cumbria remain at a snappy 3C, with surrounding areas climbing slightly higher to 5C. By 9am, temperatures will remain mostly unchanged across the UK. In Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Kent lows of 7C are forecast - a stark contrast from the 29C forecast in Cambridgeshire the weekend prior. Cornwall will be the hottest location at this time, reaching 12C. As the day continues, temperatures will increase; however, it will still remain exceptionally cooler than the sweltering conditions forecast for the last weekend of the month. Later in the afternoon, much of England will climb to around 8C, whereas Scotland is expected to stay colder with temperatures of 4C and 5C forecast. By 9pm, it will feel much warmer than it did earlier in the day, with London the hottest city at 14C. However, elsewhere there will still be lows of 8C. According to the Met Office: "Many areas may remain mostly settled towards the end of September, but there is the possibility of areas of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic bringing more widely unsettled conditions." The long-range forecast for September 30 to the beginning of October states: "More changeable weather may become established more widely as we move into October, though parts of the west and northwest are perhaps most likely to see wet and windy conditions at times."
