The Met Office's forecast reads: "A spell of heavy rain moves through on Wednesday, followed by a drier, brighter and fresher day on Thursday. Clouding over again on Friday with light rain moving south." As the Express reports, the spell of heavy rain is poised to be significant, stretching a 600-mile band of the country on Wednesday. This extends from Devon northwards through the Wales-England border, across Merseyside, Cheshire, Cumbria and Northumbria into Scotland. The rain in Wales, therefore, will be considerable, particularly in the north of the country. Scotland's Dumfries and Galloway, Scottish Borders, East Lothian, Edinburgh, West Lothian, Fife, Perth and Kinross, Angus and Aberdeenshire will bear the brunt of the showers.
