'Told him to tolerate it': Parents regret advice to kid in IIT-B suicide case

Sahil Wakode’s parents have alleged that the 19-year-old IIT Bombay student had told them he was facing casteist slurs, humiliation and harassment at the institute for around three months. They demanded a thorough probe into the allegations and immediate action against those found responsible, while expressing faith in the Mumbai Crime Branch investigation. The Crime Branch has recorded the parents’ statements and is expected to question IIT Bombay officials, including professor Suryanarayana Doolla, whose administrative duties have been temporarily withdrawn pending an inquiry.
