7 Best Prime Day Kindle Deals (2026): Save Up to $150
Key Points

There's no better time to shop for Amazon's e-readers than during one of its own sale events. Prime Day Kindle deals are here, but they aren't as impactful as they used to be. That's because Amazon raised prices on almost all Kindle e-readers back in August, along with other products it makes.

There's no better time to shop for Amazon's e-readers than during one of its own sale events. Prime Day Kindle deals are here, but they aren't as impactful as they used to be. That's because Amazon raised prices on almost all Kindle e-readers back in August, along with other products it makes. Buying during Amazon's fall Prime Big Deals Day is one of your only chances to avoid paying the new price tag. Not all the deals are huge discounts, but if you're set on a new Kindle, this is your moment. It's also worth noting that Amazon announced new Kindles last week. There's a new 2026 version of the Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft, plus Kids versions of all three. Each has an aluminum version, something Amazon has never offered before. So far, only the Kindle is available now, with the rest of the lineup to come. It's up to you if you want to wait to see how the new models compare to the old before buying, or snag one of these on-sale models before they eventually disappear. Check out all the Prime Day Kindle deals below, from the best deals to my favorite models, regardless of price. Also, browse our roundup of the Absolute Best Prime Big Deal Days Deals, plus my full guide to all of Amazon's on-sale devices and whether the sales are any good. - A great price for a color Kindle: Kindle Colorsoft for $190 ($100 Off) - The new Kindle Scribe is truly worth it at this price: Kindle Scribe (3rd Gen) for $380 ($120 Off) - The biggest Kindle discount: Kindle Scribe Colorsoft for $480 ($150 Off) - A version of our favorite Kindle: Kindle Paperwhite Signature (12th Gen) for $170 ($80 Off) - The cheapest Kindle: Kindle (11th Gen) for $104 ($46 off) Best Prime Day Kindle Deals One of the best discounts on a Kindle is on the Kindle Colorsoft. It's $100 off, making it just $20 more than my usual recommendation, the Paperwhite, also on sale for $170. For the small splurge, it's worth buying instead of the Paperwhite. The Colorsoft adds color on top of almost everything else you'd get with a Kindle Paperwhite: a 7-inch screen and an adjustable warm light, plus an auto-adjusting light and wireless charging if you upgrade to the Signature model. It's also ad-free, while you have to pay extra to skip the ads on a Paperwhite or base Kindle. New versions of the Colorsoft are coming out as well, including an aluminum-backed Signature version in new colors and an upgraded display. But I don't expect to see the new versions on sale this year. Amazon's Kindle Scribe line doubles as both an e-reader and a digital notebook. The newest third-generation Scribe is good, but not great for the price, especially given that the older model is still around, has most of the features, and retails for only $400. But right now, the Kindle Scribe (3rd Gen) actually costs less than its previous generation for once, making it worth choosing over my old favorite. There are second-hand versions of that second-gen model on sale, though. There's a new homepage design, a bigger screen, and new connectivity and AI features compared to the older model. I don't love the AI features, but I do love that I can connect this device to Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, making it a more powerful digital notebook. It also didn't raise in price in August, so this is a legitimate sale with no price changes inflating it. Color finally arrived to the Kindle Scribe line last year with the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. It has all the same features and look as the third-generation Scribe, but with a color screen. That addition racks up the price a lot, hitting $630 compared to the $400 to $500 of previous models. It's too much, in my opinion, especially to only add color. But if you're set on color-coordinating your notes and highlights, then this is the best time to buy, given the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft has a serious discount right now that makes it much, much more worth the splurge. There's also no new models planned for the Kindle Scribe line, so you don't have to worry you'll want the new model coming out. If I were shopping for a Kindle for a kid, this is the one I'd get during Amazon's sale event. Kids' books use color much more often than adult books, so I feel they're better suited to getting a Colorsoft than we grown-ups. Plus, the Kindle Colorsoft Kids comes with a full year of Kids+ content, which is like Kindle Unlimited but for kids, while the other on-sale Kids models only come with six months. It also comes with a fun cover designed with kids in mind and to help it survive the inevitable drops. New Kindle Kids versions are coming to match the new Kindles, but most kids won't notice it's not the newest one. This Kindle also went up in price in August, so this is the best time to buy if you want one. Other Recommended Kindles That Are on Sale None of these Kindles are bad, and on sale is the best way to buy. I've liked all of these Kindles for different reasons, but the sales aren't quite as good after the price hikes. Here's a quick breakdown. If you want the best e-reader Amazon makes, it's the Kindle Paperwhite. The Paperwhite has a 7-inch screen with adjustable warm light, plus up to 12 weeks of battery life and snappy screen performance. There's also the Signature version on sale, which has an auto-adjusting front light and wireless charging. The Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature did raise in price in August, so the sale isn't as good as it used to be; the Paperwhite was previously $160, so you're still paying more even after the Amazon Prime Big Deals Day discount kicks in. This is still the time I'd recommend buying it, though, since $10 more is better than $40. The Paperwhite Signature has a much bigger discount, so I'd go for that one right now. As mentioned above, if you can swing an extra $20, I would also consider the previous version of the Colorsoft, which is currently on sale for $190. New versions of both the Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature are also coming soon, with the Signature getting an aluminum backing and new colors, but then you're stuck paying full price (and waiting on pre-order for now). I'm sad to say there isn't a sub-$100 Kindle anymore, even during a major sale event like this one, but this Kindle is at least on sale for just over $100 instead of its hefty new price tag of $150. After Amazon raised its Kindle prices, the base Kindle went up $40, but it's still a (very small) discount on the original price right now. It has a 6-inch screen and no warm light option, but it otherwise performs well and comes in a fun matcha green color. It's the cheapest Kindle you can get right now, though the new version (not on sale) is also available if you want to upgrade. Amazon’s Kindle Kids takes a Kindle and gives it a few extras. You'll get six months of Kids+, a subscription full of books designed for kids aged 3 to 12, plus a fun cover made for kids. You can technically turn on Kids mode with any Kindle, but it's nice to get their own, especially when it's on sale. It is on sale for barely under its original price before the August hikes, which is a bummer. How Much Did Kindles Raise in Price?
