Log in Former Georgia Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has lashed out at President Donald Trump in ferocious style in the latest installment of their long-running feud. Once a cheerleader for Trumpism, Greene stepped down from the House of Representatives in January after breaking with the president over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and other points of contention and has since become one of his most outspoken critics, particularly over the affordability crisis and the Iran war. Trump, in turn, has mocked her as “Marjorie Traitor Brown,” called her “highly neurotic” and reacted callously to claims she has been subjected to death threats, remarking: “I don’t think anyone cares about her.” Greene took to X Sunday to post a screenshot of a Trump campaign email she had received asking: “Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor, did I do something wrong?” “Oh he sent me an email, I think I’ll respond,” she wrote, before launching into a lengthy tirade attacking the president’s second term record. “So yes, actually you did do something wrong President Trump, let’s first start with your broken campaign promises,” Greene began. “You protected your pedophile rapists friends instead of women who were raped when they were just teenage girls and you STILL REFUSE to release the Epstein files.” Trump has never been formally accused of any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein but did face persistent questions last year about his past friendship with the late billionaire sex offender, who died in a New York City jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial. The president has said he broke contact with Epstein in 2004, two years prior to his first arrest, and never spoke to him again. In November, the president signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law, ordering the Department of Justice to release its files on Epstein after Congress passed the bill following a campaign led by a bipartisan group of representatives that included Greene. Ultimately, not all of the DOJ’s holdings were published on security grounds and many were heavily redacted. Greene continued her attack by pivoting to Iran: “You started an unprovoked war with Iran that the vast majority of Americans do NOT support. You killed hundreds of children at a school in Iran and innocent people and are responsible for 21 U.S. service members’ deaths and 865 wounded. “Your stupid war that you claim you have won like 50 times has destroyed our bases in the Middle East and hundreds of billions of dollars worth of military equipment and weapons, while depleting our weapons and ammunitions.” She went on to accuse Trump of “supporting, funding, and aiding genocide in Gaza” and not only failing to deliver on his promise to address the cost of living but actually succeeding in driving up inflation through the war’s impact on fuel prices. “So did you do something wrong?” Greene continued. “Yes in summary, YOU are the snake that you warned us all about in the poem you read over and over.” She was referring to Oscar Brown’s lyrics, which became a hit soul song for Al Wilson in 1968 and which Trump used to frequently allude to at rallies and interpret as an anti-immigrant parable. “You never cared about putting America first or making America great again,” Greene concluded. “You are the deep state, the Epstein class, and America last. And my mistake was supporting you in the first place.” The Independent has reached out to the White House for comment. Since leaving frontline politics, Greene has got married and joined Cameo but continues to issue barbed attacks on the president. Most recently, she observed that she could not remember the last time she saw someone wearing a red Trump cap – in response to the news that the Trump Superstore in Knoxville, Tennessee, was closing – suggesting the phenomenon was indicative of his declining popularity.
