The snacks have been mispackaged, sparking an allergy alert. Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars have been packaged in Skinny Whip Toffee bar wrappers instead, which do not declare peanuts as an ingredient. This means the product poses a potential health risk to anyone with a peanut allergy. As a result, the affected bars have been recalled from Asda and Sainsbury's customers in England and Scotland. Recalled products Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars - Pack size: Five x 20g - Batch code: 6238 (08:30 - 10:30) - Best before: August 2027 The Food Standards Agency has published a notice as it said: "Halo Foods Ltd is recalling the above product and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. "Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product and on their website. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product." It added: "If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to where you bought it from for a full refund." Asda told its customers: "The product is being recalled because it may contain undeclared peanut allergen. Although the outer packaging and bars are correct, the individual bar wrapper inside states toffee whip bars with incorrect allergens. "This means the product may present a risk to consumers, particularly those who are allergic to peanuts." Asda customers should return the product to their nearest store, where they will receive a full refund, even without a receipt. For further information, customers can contact Halo Foods at [email protected] or 0800 298 3969 or Asda Customer Relations on 0330 053 0111. If anyone has concerns about their health after consuming the product, they should seek appropriate medical advice. Halo Foods added: "Halo Foods apologises for any inconvenience caused and is taking this matter seriously, please note that no other Skinny products are affected by this action." Why are allergy alerts issued? The Food Standards Agency issues food recall or allergy alerts relating to products in the UK. It said: "Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. "Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). "Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect, or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert."
