'I made a joke about US politics in front of Princess Anne - her reaction spoke volumes' Known for her quick wit and sense of humour, Princess Anne reportedly showed her fun side while watching a performance by a famous comedian Katherine Ryan has revealed Princess Anne’s reaction to her jokes about US politics, saying the royal appeared to enjoy her comedy while sitting in the audience at an event. Describing the Princess Royal as her "favourite", the comedian recalled how Anne laughed at her material during the performance. Speaking to Hello! Magazine about the 76-year-old, she said: "She certainly has a sense of humour. She saw me do comedy at an awards ceremony and I got a sense that she didn't like the current political direction of the USA because I had some jokes about that and she enjoyed what I had to say." Katherine previously added of the moment: "She just said I was funny. You could tell by her face she wasn’t offended - she seemed cool." During the set, the comedian also made a joke about Prince Harry, Princess Anne's nephew. "I had little harmless jokes about fancying Prince Harry," she shared with OK! Magazine. However, despite recognising Anne's sense of humour, Katherine admitted she was careful not to take the jokes too far. I think there’s probably a restraining order after some of my jokes. "I used to call him the Duke of I Just Came Rich – not appropriate." However despite her concerns, she said the Duke of Sussex actually encouraged her to make more jokes when they met for the first time. Describing Harry as "very cool and relaxed", Katherine revealed that her crush on the prince remains. She also shared her thoughts on meeting Anne's mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. "She was lovely and gracious. She does carry herself like a firstborn daughter, we know she goes against the grain and she's not afraid of a little judgement," she added. Princess Anne is known for her quick wit, sense of humour and tireless work ethic. Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, who lives in Gloucestershire, where Princess Anne owns a 500-acre estate, has previously suggested that the royal is also just like any other local resident despite her status. Laurence, who lives in Siddington, a village just outside Cirencester, told Express.co.uk: "I've met her on the train quite often, yeah we're on kind of nodding terms. She travels with a few burly but super smart military types, all very very unfussy. No one bats an eyelid, we're all used to her. "Prince [now King] Charles used to do it lots as well, at our local station Kemble." Princess Anne lives at Gatcombe Park, where her children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, also have homes on the sprawling estate. "I see her children quite a lot, Peter is someone we know quite well and again, this is one of them things about our end of the Cotswolds, is that everyone sort of gets on well with each other in a very informal way," Laurence added.
