Lizz Truss is facing major backlash on social media as the former Prime Minister announced the release of her book on British democracy and the Bank of England after her disastrous mini-budget.
The politician posted the link to pre order her book, 'BANK JOB', on X, ahead of its release on October 26. Unsurprisingly the post was met with an abundance of mockery with one user even changing the title to 'w**k job'.
Another X user edited the front cover of the book to include the infamous lettuce, that outlasted Truss' 45 days at Downing Street, the shortest tenure in British history.
Her time as PM ended after a controversial "mini-budget" of unfunded tax cuts proposed by her chancellor caused major financial market instability, a drop in the British pound, widespread political fallout, and the loss of party support.
The edit of the front cover features the same image of Truss sat at the desk, in the style of the crime thriller film Reservoir Dogs, surrounded by men believed to be former Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, former Prime Minister Tony Blair, and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, but with the addition of a lettuce front and centre.
The social media user changed the title to 'Lettuce Job', as it reads 'how to outlast a lettuce'.
The "short book on how the Bank of England broke the bond market and brought down the government" after her disastrous mini-Budget will coincide with the first Budget under Andy Burnham's leadership.
Furious Tory MPs turfed Truss out of office after just seven weeks, with Boris Johnson replacing her after the economy was thrown into chaos.
However, her new book will tell a different side to her downfall, elaborating on her argument that the "establishment" and Bank of England were to blame for the economic crisis.
The book will reportedly "lift the lid on what really happened around the Mini-Budget in 2022, challenging the establishment narrative and examining in particular the role of the unaccountable Bank of England".
The announcement was not received well as even her own former trade policy minister Conor Burns mocked the book. He wrote on X: "She is now an international embarrassment with zero self awareness."
Another social media user edited the book cover to rename it "Whack Job", and posted the image with the caption: "A short book on how Liz Truss broke the bond market and a lettuce brought down the government."
Others chimed in to add that the book would be downgraded to 'Poundland shelves' soon.
