Met Office issues fresh power cut warning for 25 areas as 65mph winds hit UK- full list The Met Office has told Brits to brace for power cuts, disrupted travel and huge waves in coastal areas as a new yellow warning has been issued for later on today Brits have been warned to brace for a new spell of high winds as the west cost of England, Wales and southern Scotland has been put under a Met Office weather warning. The yellow warning for wind comes into force at 6pm today and lasts until 3am tomorrow morning, with winds as high as 65 mph forecast. Power cuts, disruption to travel and dangerously large waves in coastal areas are all possible in the coming hours, the Met Office has said in the latest warning, issued this morning. “South to south-westerly winds will increase from the west during Monday evening with gusts of 45-50 mph inland and 60-65 mph along exposed coasts and over high ground. The strong winds will be accompanied by heavy rain at times,” the forecaster warned. “Winds will then ease from the west during the early hours, before increasing again across northern parts of the UK early on Tuesday morning.” The warnings come as the UK is still reeling after Storm Boelo pummelled the country over the weekend. More than 82,000 properties were left without power as gusts up to 84mph blasted parts of Britain.
