Give us this day our wholemeal bread | Brief letters

Key Points

Bread runs in Oxford | Animal licences | Tomatoes in November | Cereal killers | Listening to TrumpI agree with Rev Nicholas Bradbury of Oxford (Letters, 2 November) about the sad disappearance of healthy wholemeal bread. I find sourdough indigestible and expensive. Fortunately, Nash’s bakery in Blackbird Leys, Oxford, sells excellent wholemeal bread.

I agree with Rev Nicholas Bradbury of Oxford (Letters, 2 November) about the sad disappearance of healthy wholemeal bread. I find sourdough indigestible and expensive. Fortunately, Nash’s bakery in Blackbird Leys, Oxford, sells excellent wholemeal bread. A group of us take it in turns to do the weekly “bread run” by bike or bus from Osney Island and Marston – much to the amusement of the friendly shop staff.

• Your correspondent’s plea for dog licences (Letters, 1 November) reminded me of my primary school in the 1950s. In preparation for the 11-plus exam, one of the “intelligence test” questions was – “Which is the odd one out: cat, dog, radio?” Most people answered radio. The correct answer was cat – because it was the only one that didn’t require a licence.
