Titans-as-a-Layer: Test-Time Memory for Conversational Speech Emotion Recognition
arXiv:2606.08573v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Speech emotion recognition (SER) is commonly formulated as utterance-level classification, although conversational emotion depends on a speaker's usual vocal range and the emotional context established by previous utterances. Speech-language models provide strong pretrained acoustic and semantic representations, and can adapts them to SER labels via finetune, but this mechanism still missing per-dialogue state.
Learning Emotion-discriminative Representations for Zero-Shot Cross-lingual Speech Emotion Recognition
Announce Type: new Abstract: Zero-shot cross-lingual speech emotion recognition (SER) remains challenging due to distribution mismatches across languages and the lack of emotion annotations in target language. Under such conditions, models trained solely on source-language data frequently suffer from degraded generalization when evaluated on unseen target languages. To address this limitation, we propose an emotion-discriminative representation learning method that integrates supervised...

Philanthropic trust owner accused of conspiring to cheat and extort 'financial contributions' Benjie Ng Ser Kwei, 71, is listed as the owner of The Golden Tree Foundation, a philanthropic trust, and a director of Yellow Tree Foundation, a company involved in charitable activities related to humanitarian work. Acoustic Cue Alignment in Audio Language Models for Speech Emotion Recognition
arXiv:2606.07309v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Instruction-following audio language models (ALMs) can be augmented with explicit acoustic cues, yet it remains unclear whether such cues are used in a grounded way when the raw audio is already available. We study this question in speech emotion recognition (SER) by deriving six interpretable acoustic concept tokens from the standardised eGeMAPS paralinguistic feature set. These tokens summarise energy, pitch, dynamics, brightness, formants,...
Geometric Second-Order Feature Correlation Learning for Self-Supervised Speech Emotion Recognition
Announce Type: new Abstract: Self-supervised learning (SSL) yields powerful, context-rich representations for speech emotion recognition (SER), yet aggregating these representations into holistic descriptors remains a bottleneck. Conventional first-order aggregation implicitly assumes feature independence, which overlooks the latent Riemannian geometry and discards higher-order relationships essential to the representational power of the backbone. To address this problem, this paper proposes...
VR Man in 2026? One fan reimagined Singapore's TV superhero in an AI-generated video
One fan reimagined Singapore's TV superhero in an AI-generated video A VR Man fan created an AI-generated tribute imagining what Singapore's first TV superhero might look in 2026, complete with upgraded armour, bigger action and plenty of nostalgia. Singapore's very own TV superhero who burst onto the screens in 1998 wearing a black spandex suit and half mask, in what remains one of local television's most unforgettable experiments. Played by James Lye, the hunky actor-turned-global head of...

Inside the cruel confines of Apple TV's 'Star City' with star Rhys Ifans and series creators (interview) In Soviet Russia, you don’t watch "Star City," "Star City" watches you! Apple TV"s stellar spinoff of "For All Mankind" has blasted off to enthusiastic reviews with its first two episodes and we’re all being indoctrinated into the dehumanizing Cold War oppression and super-secret town near Moscow where cosmonauts and their families lived and worked under intense control. Rhys Ifans, who...
A 5.3-million-year-old deep-sea whale necropolis in the Diamantina Zone
Abstract Whale falls are biodiversity oases at seabeds1,2,3,4,5,6, yet their record from the oceans has remained sparse and fragmentary6,7. Here we report the discovery of a vast whale necropolis in the Diamantina Zone (4,616- to 7,001-m depth), extending about 1,200 km along the sea floor of the southeastern Indian Ocean. This area has a deep and extensive accumulation comprising five modern natural whale-fall communities and 476 fossil cetaceans recorded.
