UK weather maps show 7C chill set to end heatwave with 25 counties below 10C Met Office forecasters expect heatwave conditions to send temperatures soaring as high as 35C this week, but weather models suggest the mercury could soon drop to 7C Temperatures are expected to rise to 35C in some parts of the UK this week - but may soon tumble below 10C across a massive swathe of the country. The Met Office's latest forecast predicts heatwave temperatures above 30C in southern and northern regions throughout this week. The warmest conditions are expected on Thursday and Friday, when 35C is possible. Conditions should be relatively warm next week too, but the ECMWF weather model now suggests temperatures will drop off significantly towards the end of the month. The data shows highs of just 17C in the south-east of England on the afternoon of July 20, with 20C coming on the following day. Temperatures could even drop as low as 14C on the morning of July 22 in south-east England, plummeting further to just 7C in parts of Scotland. Temperature anomaly maps for this period show most of the UK shaded in areas of blue. This indicates where temperatures are expected to drop well below the seasonal average. In total, the ECMWF maps show 25C counties could see temperatures below 10C on the morning of July 22. They are all in Scotland or northern England. Tomorrow should bring “another hot day” for England, Wales and eastern Scotland, with cloudier conditions in Northern Ireland and south-west Scotland. For the weekend, the Met Office adds: “Remaining warm and sunny across much of England and Wales, though turning breezier. Sunny spells emerging in the far northwest as cloud moves southwards into other areas of Scotland.” BBC weather says similarly: "Friday through Sunday will see plenty of sunshine and increasingly hot conditions for much of the UK. Western Scotland and occasionally some west facing coasts will often stay cloudier with some light rain or drizzle. "A chance of thundery showers developing on Friday. Cooler on east coasts on the weekend under a keen easterly breeze."
