Storm Boelo unleashed 84mph winds and heavy rain in parts of the UK this weekend, triggering yellow and amber weather warnings. Its arrival came just shortly after Storm Austen brought heavy rain to many areas on Friday. The Energy Networks Association (ENA) said on Monday morning that 39,000 customers were without power in Great Britain, while 785,000 households had now been reconnected. If you have been without power for a certain period of time, you may be able to claim compensation. Here is what you need to know. Storm compensation - your rights Under rules set out by Ofgem, you are entitled to £90 if your power has been cut off for 48 hours or more following a category two storm. You can then claim a further £45 for every additional six-hour period you are without power. The maximum amount you can claim for loss of your supply is £2,235. For a category one storm, you can get £90 for the first 24 hours and an extra £45 for every six hours after. If you are eligible, you do not need to make a claim. Your network operator will automatically pay you if they have your bank details. This may be done through your energy supplier. If that happens, the money will be added to your energy account or prepayment meter if you have one. If you do not receive a payment automatically, you should contact your network operator directly. If the payment has been missed, they may owe you an extra £40. Storm Boelo has now moved away from the UK, but the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for strong winds from 6pm on Monday until 3am on Tuesday. This applies across the west coast of England, Wales and Scotland and eastern parts of Northern Ireland. There is then another yellow warning kicks from 3am across northern parts of Scotland. A man in his 20s was pronounced dead after a tree fell onto a moving car in north London on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police said. Earlier that day, a 60-year-old man died after he was hit by a falling tree in Dumfries and Galloway, south-west Scotland, at about 10.30am.
